OXEN MAT

Small mat by Ann Winterling ,one of  the 3 featured rug hookers at the Shelburne Show this year . . . .. once again what I really like about this small piece is the simplicity which allows the images to be hooked as one would perhaps paint them  . . . 

By this I mean the way each colour is applied (hooked) next to each other . . . .detail is  avoided but everything is there!

I wonder what names  these New Hampshire Oxen were given?
In Nova Scotia ,on Digby Neck they were,according to my father ,all called  ''STAR'' and ''BRIGHT'' . . .
